PMHNP Leadership Story
My name is Nhlanhla Moyo, MSN, APRN PMHNP-BC; most people call me Moyo because they cannot pronounce my first name, I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, a title that I have had since 2019. A PMHNP-BC is a Registered Nurse who attended graduate school and earned a Master`s degree in Nursing MSN, with a focus on Mental Health.
In my role as a PMHNP-BC, I assess and diagnose mental health disorders, provide supportive therapy and prescribe psychotropic medication, if indicated and monitor for therapeutic and side effects, serum drug levels and appropriate labs.
I started working in the Mental Health field in 2014 as a Registered Nurse in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, I worked in East Texas, Central and Northern California as a Registered Nurse. I worked in various settings: inpatient psychiatric hospitals, mental health urgent care centers, outpatient clinics, correctional settings and outpatient forensic psychiatric nursing.
I have been in full time private practice since 2021, my collaborating physician and mentor is James Alan Margolis MD, a psychiatrist with over 45 years of experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
My practice has children, adolescent, and adult populations, I have authored recommendations for Family Courts in Central and Northern California for cases involving child custody. I provide mental healthcare, treatment plans and court reports for defendants who meet diagnostic criteria for Mental Health Diversion set for in Penal Code 1001.36.
Clinical Experience
Since 2021, I have maintained a full-time private practice specializing in adult and child adolescent psychiatry. In my hands-on experience includes conducting psychiatric evaluations, managing medications, and providing culturally competent care for diverse patient populations.
Bridging Training
and Practice
Better Days Consulting Inc. was founded to bridge the gap between academic training and practical, confident clinical practice. Many PMHNPs graduate with strong theoretical knowledge but lack the confidence to apply skills effectively in real-world settings.
Our Mission
To empower psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners with the knowledge, confidence, and tools needed to deliver compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care.
Our Vision
To create a community of confident, ethical PMHNP professionals who excel in clinical practice, continuously improve patient outcomes, and uphold the highest standards of mental health care.
